Investigation into Morningside shooting ongoing

On Oct. 3 at about 4:35 pm, the Sioux City Police Department received several reports of a white truck chasing a dark colored car and both cars firing guns at each other in the Morningside area of town. There were no reports of anyone being injured in the exchange of fire.

“Incidents such as this are taken very seriously by our department,” said Chief Rex Mueller, chief of police for the Sioux City Police Department. “Considerable resources have been deployed to determine the suspects involved. Sioux City is a safe community, and our department is dedicated to handling public safety concerns of this nature with a strong and appropriate response.”

Officers responded to the area southwest of the Elwood Olsen Stadium and located shell casings and numerous surveillance cameras that captured the cars involved.

The two cars involved are possibly a white 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck and a dark colored 2006-2008 Toyota Camry Solara.

Detectives with the department are actively pursuing several leads and the investigation is on-going.

Anyone with information on this matter are asked to call the department at 279-6440 or Crimestoppers at 258-TIPS (8477).
