Investigative Services Bureau
The Investigative Services Bureau is comprised of five units; Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property, Special Investigations, Youth and the Tri-State Drug Task Force.
Captain Ryan Bertrand, Lieutenant Kevin Heineman, and Administrative Secretary Sarah Hadden provide; direction, supervision, coordination and administrative support to each unit.

Crimes Against Persons
The Crimes Against Persons investigates homicides, felony assaults, sex abuse, and child abuse.
Crimes Against Property
The Property Crimes Unit investigates internet crimes, burglary, felony theft, identity theft, forgery, arson, and criminal mischief.
Youth Bureau
The Youth Bureau investigates juvenile-related complaints and reports of missing juveniles. The unit is made up of six School Resource Officers (SRO) who are assigned to the following schools: East Middle, East High, North Middle, North High, West Middle, and West High. The unit spends a large amount of time instructing and mentoring juveniles. In addition the unit has a full-time youth investigator whose emphasis is on all youth crimes and missing juveniles.

Tri-State Drug Task Force
The Tri-State Drug Task Force is comprised of members from multi-jurisdictional and multi-agencies. All members are federally deputized, authorized, and supported by High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and the DEA. The Sioux City Police Department has two officers assigned to this unit.
