De-escalation training is not a trend but a foundation of SCPD training

The Sioux City Police Department has incorporated de-escalation training into its policies and training for over 20 years. Tactics to reduced the need for force are trained to all officers and built into all levels of the department’s training to include a computer simulator called VirTra.
