Shooting at 2201 Gibson St

UPDATE Sept. 5, at 1:45 pm - Involved subject located
While investigating the shooting that had occurred at 2201 Gibson St. on Sept. 4 at 4:18 pm, officers with the Sioux City Police Department had information that a red 2011 Subaru Legacy was involved in the incident.
On Sept. 5, at about 9:20 am, officers located the Subaru Legacy in the area of S. Helen and Glenn Blvd. The driver of the vehicle was detained and found to be in possession of a handgun.
After interviewing the driver, it was determined that he was involved in the shooting at 2201 Gibson St.
Detectives investigating the matter have charged 19-year-old Lawrence G. Canady III of Sioux City with driving without a valid license, operating without owner's consent, and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. No charges have been filed for the incident at 2201 Gibson St. pending further investigation.
The shooting is still under investigation and detectives are speaking to additional subjects that were involved in this incident.

UPDATED Sept 5, 2019 at 9:17 am - time changed from 4:36 pm to 4:18 pm - The Sioux City Police Department received reports of shots being fired at the apartment complex located at 2201 Gibson St. on Sept. 4, 2019 at 4:18 pm.
Officers arriving on the scene located a victim running from the area in the 2300 block of Transit Ave. The 21-old male was suffering from gunshot wounds that appeared to be non-life threatening. He was transported to Mercyone for treatment. His name is not being released at this time.
Several shell casings that had been fired from a handgun were located in the parking lot of 2201 Gibson St.
Officers canvased the area for looking for anyone else that was involved or witnessed the shooting.
It is not known how many people were involved in this matter nor is there a description of the suspect. At the time of this release, the victim was providing limited information.
